3 Reasons to Buy Real Estate in NYC Now

The Agency Team • July 10, 2025

New York City draws over 87,000 new residents each year, according to recent Census data—and it’s easy to understand why. With iconic architecture, world-class cuisine, vibrant culture, and unmatched career opportunities, the city attracts artists, dreamers, doers, and innovators from around the globe.

Here, Daniel Hall —real estate expert at The Agency New York with over 20 years of experience, hundreds of closed deals, and a background leading his own brokerage, Hall Homes—shares his top reasons to buy real estate in New York City right now.

#1 Location, Location, Location

I love every inch of the Big Apple — from Manhattan to Brooklyn, Staten Island to Queens, and the Bronx. Each of the five boroughs has its own unique energy and character. Every neighborhood offers a vibe that blends history, culture, and authenticity, making NYC a true melting pot and a place where everyone can feel at home.

That said, where you live in the city often depends on where you are in life.

Right now, I’m especially excited about the Upper West Side (UWS) — which runs from West 59th Street to 110th, bordered by Central Park and the Hudson River. This residential neighborhood has it all: fantastic restaurants to suit every palate, a thriving arts and culture scene, and the serenity of nature just steps away. Whether you’re strolling through Central Park or biking along the Hudson, the UWS offers a small-town feel in the heart of a bustling metropolis.

#2 The Real Estate Market

After a three-year slump, the market is waking back up — and that creates opportunity. The window to act is now.  As the old saying goes, “The best time to buy was five years ago.” The second-best time? Today. If you’re on the fence, let me be clear: This a great time to buy.

Of course, every borough offers unique opportunities, and every buyer has different needs. I love helping clients find their perfect fit in this city—if you have questions or need guidance, let’s talk.

#3 Getting Around (Safely, Of Course)

Now, about safety — a concern that is shared with me often. People love to say, “Be careful, New York isn’t safe. But I couldn’t disagree more.

Of course, staying aware is very important. I personally ride the subway regularly and love how it allows me to explore and access so many different corners of this incredibly unique global city. New York is a fast-paced metropolis, and if you stay alert, focused, and informed, it has so much to offer.

So much can happen in a New York minute, and it’s easy to get swept up in the hustle. I like to remind my clients to slow down. Put your phone away. Take a walk and immerse yourself in the dynamic energy of this iconic city.  The truth is, there’s no place in the world quite like NYC— and whether you’re a longtime resident or an aspiring New Yorker, you deserve to experience it fully.
